The Medicare Hospice Benefit covers end-of-life services related to a patient’s final diagnosis. It applies no matter where the patient lives — at home, in a nursing home, or in another facility. Medicare Part A pays 100% of all services tied to the terminal diagnosis.

If routine care cannot manage a patient’s symptoms, Medicare Part A steps in with extra support. It covers 24/7 continuous care or inpatient care. Patients and families do not pay extra for these services.
